a day in the life: back to school

It’s that time again, SCHOOL IS STARTING SOON! I’m actually very excited, I know that’s probably surprising, but I can’t wait to get back into a routine. This day was very productive and got me in the back to school mood, so I documented it. There was a little shopping, some cleaning, and more fun stuff!

I also do want to mention that I just posted a three-post series about fast fashion. While I do my best to avoid shopping at fast fashion brands, I’m not perfect at it. it’s hard to find uniforms online for an affordable price, but I did my best to be as environmentally friendly as I could. buying clothes that were 100% cotton, stores that donate to positive organizations.

getting ready. I woke up around 8 and got ready. That consisted of showering, cleaning up my room, doing my hair, making coffee, etc. My shirt is from Target and my shorts (which you can’t see in this picture) are from Aeropostale.

reading. We had some time before we left and I decided to sit outside and read. At the moment I’m reading Great Expectations. The weather was actually really nice this morning. I sat outside, drinking my coffee for a while until everyone was ready to go. Click here for a book list.

office depot. The first stop was Office Depot. We picked up boring school supplies like pencils and pens. The exciting purchase was a monthly calendar and my new journal for bullet journaling. Since I’m starting high school I wanted to try out some new organization and scheduling techniques.

joann fabrics. This wasn’t for school but we stopped by Joann fabrics to pick up some quilting batting and fabric for a few of my projects.

the actual uniform shopping. Then came the actual shopping. I picked up new dress pants, polos, a denim jacket, tanks, etc. It wasn’t too exciting, it just reminded me of my uniforms for next year, but it also felt good to cross it off my list.

lunch. We were all really hungry and finally got lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I had half a Margherita flatbread and a caesar salad.

organizing everything. As soon as we got home I organized everything. I put certain things up and washed other things. The problem with me is I don’t like things out and about, I had to get everything put away, let me know if you’re like this too.

planning for school. Like I mentioned, I wanted to get everything organized. I got a new monthly planner, which is just a normal planner but only with the monthly calendars and I put all of the events and dates I knew of for the year. This planner has actually been really helpful.

working on the denim jacket. Since I finally found the right jacket, I started applying all of the patches I’ve collected on. A few from World Market, The UN, Chelsea Market, etc. I’ll prob do a post about this in the future, let me know in the comments if you would be interested.

friends. I ended this very productive day watching FRIENDS and eating dinner. In case you’re curious, I watched “The One with All The Poker”.

I love productive days! Even though it may be bittersweet because of school, I still had a lot of fun getting ready for it. And I will never complain about shopping or The Cheesecake Factory. I also hope you like this break from some of the serious stuff I’ve been writing sometimes it’s fun to talk about stuff like this. let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading!

Nothing feels better than getting things done during the back to school season! My dad took my sister and me back to school shopping this past Saturday and I got some really awesome professional wear for my TA work (I’m a secondary English education major at my university), as well as some pens to fuel my pen addiction (my pencil case is never lacking). Lovely post, x.
